Nigel's yard & Tractor collection

These are a few pics I took of Nigel & "Susan's house......Nigel has done all of the yard work himself since they moved back there two years ago. These are just a few of the antique tractors that belong to either him or Barry. This is Barry doing some welding on his day off. This is his little "side business"....he does great work Popster & Susan making "bubble & squeak" for dinner - I think they were doing more drinking than cooking! to see more pics go here

Walk from Bury

We wanted to take a walk this morning but because it had snowed we knew the Nature walk would be very muddy. Nigel was going to Ramsey so he said he could drop us at Bury & we could walk back from there.......about 2 miles! It was a beautiful day! We had to be careful when we started off because of the melting snow....we were getting splashed as cars went by! Look at this beautiful driveway! The view from the top of the hill. Someone had carved this fallen tree into a bench. No one was working....I'm sure all that snow was the problem!!!! This is the beginning of the High Street This is called Post Office Row & the end house is where I was born. My father died when I was two & Terry was three & everyone told my Mother she couldn't possibly raise us alone. She remarried & Greg & Nigel were also born here. They bought the land on Meadow Lane & started a farm when Nigel was still a baby. The local pub. We used to take this bus to Peterborough to vis...

Lunch at Wistow

We decided to go out for lunch to a local pub at Wistow Check out how narrow the road is....yes, it is two lanes! This is where we ate The food was absolutely delicious....all the local pubs do lunches & they are almost always home cooked meals. to see more pics go here

Snowed in!!!!!

Yesterday we woke up to grey & misty skies that turned to rain with one or two snowflakes mixed in. In the afternoon Susan & I went up to the village to see my Aunt Doreen & Uncle Norman & it turned completely to snow while we were there. By the time we left the car had maybe an inch of snow on it.......but driving was okay & we only had to drive around the block & we were home. Everyone was worried that we would be snowed in this morning!!! When I get home & post pictures of the "snow" you will see why we couldn't understand the problem!! PS Wouldn't it be something if we get "snowed in" at Heathrow next Tues!

Walk around Ramsy & Tesco's shopping trip

Nigel had a doctor's appointment so we decided to go with him so we could walk around Ramsey. It's about 3 miles from Upwood & is where I went shopping every Sat morning with my Mother. It really hasn't changed that much This is the bakery where we got jam & cream donuts. This is the Forgotten Sweet Shop - really had all the *sweets we had when we were kids! This is the entrance to Ramsey Abbey Grammar School where I went when I was 11 years old - yes - it is really an old Abbey (built in 969!!) & even though they built another section we still had a lot of our classes in the Abbey. We had another trip to Tesco's to get something for dinner Look at all the choices there are in the vegetable aisle! This is all wines, liquor & beer This section was all beers brewed locally To see the rest of pics go here and here After lunch Susan & I went visiting & while we were out we had quite the snowstorm....for english standard!!!! *candy
