How cold is cold?

   ......or how cold is freezing?
Just to let you know this post is not about the weather.....  at least not directly, but as a result!

We have an extra refrigerator in the garage for the typical overflow of when I go on one of my mad cooking rampages or more importantly for my "slight" obsession with this.  A few weeks ago when the temperature was hovering in the single digits I went out to the garage to get my ice cream & found (insert scream) I could drink it instead of using a spoon.  It was very obvious to me that the freezer was not working.  I informed Popster of the dilemma but his solution was to wait a couple days til the weather warmed up to see if that would make a difference.  Meantime I emptied the freezer of all essential ice cream food!

Sure enough after a couple days of warmer temps the freezer got colder.  Is it me or does that sentence make no sense?  I waited more than a week & went out to stock up on the ice cream supply......you never know when the powers in charge will decide to do away with the only flavor I will eat!  The very next day I went to put something in the freezer & the ice cream was getting soft again(insert louder scream).

Popster & I had the same argument discussion about getting it fixed.

He, however, is not completely convinced it's not working & decides to go to the store to get a thermometer to check it out.  Who am I to stand in the way of a man on a mission so I quietly move all my stash to the freezer in the kitchen.  He was so proud of the thermometer he bought as it had a "safe zone" on it for both the freezer & refrigerator section.

I just nodded my head because it was then  I decided that you can't fight city hall or if it comes down to it, a man armed with a cool (pun intended) refrigerator thermometer!

I, however, did mutter under my breath that when you can drink ice cream with a straw it's a pretty good indication that the freezer is not working!

  1. Oh my god, you eat ice cream like me, well moreover you eat as much ice cream as me .
So is the iice cream shelf, I mean freezer working? Can't you just stash it in a snow drift?

  2. Did he really have to buy a thermometre to determine that ice cream you can drink threw a straw is not right? Egads.

  3. What would you do without a man to make sure you don't buy something you don't need.

46 years ago...............................

Today is our anniversary & I  have decided this post will be my version about how we met.......Popster's version would more than likely not be the same but that's how we roll! It was new year's eve 1963....yikes!.......I was a telephone operator in a little town called Huntingdon in England.  It was about 3 miles from Alconbury, an amercan air force base.  All calls went thru our switchboard including ones from the base so consequently we got to know all the GIs.  we would meet them at the Nickel Coin.........pictured here during our coffee..... or should I say tea?....breaks & lunch hours.  Whenever some newbies were transfered in they would be brought to town to meet the local girls. It was not "love at first sight"......I thought he was kinda nerdy & he thought I was a "stuck-up english broad"!  It was a few weeks later when he asked me to go to the movies that I realized he wasn't so "nerdy", so I guess we'll call
