"MIA"

I know I haven't written many posts lately but life has turned crazy & I haven't had a lot of free time.  The weather has become a little more "spring-like" since Thurs so it really feels good.  Everything is finally coming to life!

I am back on my regular hours at the course & it has been totally nuts there.  We have a new computer program this year so it's really putting some extra pressure on us all.  As "Johnny Boy" puts it it's like having your "head kicked"!  Thurs morning we had the heaviest frost & were supposed to start tee-times at 9:00 but that wasn't going to happen.  With a pro shop full of people our phone lines went down which meant we couldn't run any credit cards!  We had to resort to the old fashioned way of doing them manually.  It got so crazy it was like getting kicked while you were down!  I come home from work mentally drained but on the plus side it will get easier.

I finally was able to get outside & do some spring clean up....our front yard had been dubbed the graveyard because Miss Molly had so much junk out there!

Speaking of the big black dog apparently she has gotten a reputation with Ed the UPS driver.  He delivered a package to my neighbor on Friday & said something to her about that big black dog being out again!  I guess he doesn't understand what an invisible fence is!
We took Molly to the Round Lake bike path today & she had so much fun being able to run free for a while

I do believe there is a sign of some green on this tree.

How about this being a sign of spring----dandelions!!!

  1. We skipped spring and it's a shame. Those little glimmers of life look so cool and unsweaty.

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Happy "13th" Birthday Liza

Today is Liza's 13th birthday(that is 91 in people years). We are just amazed that she not only is still with us, after being told 18 months ago she wouldn't live 6 months but that weather permitting she still walks 2 miles every morning & another 2 in the afternoon! Check out the slide show.......her friend Lucy came over tonight & they each had a donut w/frosting & sprinkles along with ice cream. It was just too funny as neither one of them can see worth a damn but they knew they were getting something good! Lucy had hers gone in 2 bites but Liza went for the ice cream first & then took her time licking off the frosting!

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...
