Day 4 Recap

After the mess we've had for the last couple days I never expected the room to look this good in one day. In spite of the fact we had another 7-8" of snow over night Jim & crew were here by 9:00am with the sheet rock.

Check out Jim on stilts doing the taping....he totally amazed me at how quickly he was able to do that big room.  I asked him if he ever fell off the the stilts.....he said only twice because it hurts so much you learn in a hurry how to walk on them!

He did that whole seam ....24 feet long....in one "swoop"!
They had to cap off the old plumbing before they put the last piece in.

Here is the room with the first coat of "mud". According to Jim he will come back tomorrow & Sunday to get the other coats of spackle done & they will paint on Monday. The cabinets are being delivered Mon & he plans on being able to start hanging them on Tues.......I'm so excited!

BTW the reason Molly is in the shots at the end of the day is because that's the only time she's allowed in the room!

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...

Happy "13th" Birthday Liza

Today is Liza's 13th birthday(that is 91 in people years). We are just amazed that she not only is still with us, after being told 18 months ago she wouldn't live 6 months but that weather permitting she still walks 2 miles every morning & another 2 in the afternoon! Check out the slide show.......her friend Lucy came over tonight & they each had a donut w/frosting & sprinkles along with ice cream. It was just too funny as neither one of them can see worth a damn but they knew they were getting something good! Lucy had hers gone in 2 bites but Liza went for the ice cream first & then took her time licking off the frosting!
