Yowsa!

 I was woken up around 3:30am yesterday by thunder as a line of severe storms were rolling through the area.  My alarm goes off at 4:00am so I figured I'd just get up.  I was standing in the kitchen waiting for the coffee pot when there was a blinding explosion in the back yard along with a huge clap of thunder.  It was like someone threw a bomb in the yard....needless to say it scared the crap out of me & I was waiting for a tree to fall.  We didn't see anything & I left the house at 7:00am while it was still raining.  Popster didn't see this until last night but it had struck this big oak that is about 15 feet from our sun room.
 It just stripped that piece of bark right off the tree


 Makes the expression "Don't mess with Mother Nature" become very real!

    Whoa, that is scary. I can't believe it struck so close to the house and didn't knock your power out. We have been strom free for 3 whole days but it's about to change again. urgh. We've been hit twice, once in another house it struck in the garden and wiped out the alarm system, stove, micro etc and once in this house it hit the roof. We were away and came back to an electrical mess. And the roof that was fixed the day before we went away...well lets just say it needed to be fixed again.
    Stay safe. Molly must have been terrified.

    Me again, I came back to look at the tree again. Will it survive? The amount of voltage it incurred must have rattled it to it's roots.

    I don't know about the tree but I was rattled to my roots. Our building at work got hit about a month ago but this was way scarier! Molly gets so upset during storms...poor baby.

    Hae you tried "the Thunder shirt" on her. Lots of my clients and friends use it with great success.

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. Liza's treat ball

This is one of the most important things in our house - it is Liza's treat ball! I bought this about 9 or 10 years ago & it had a "trap door" where the gaping hole is & when you put treats in it you could control how easily they would fall out as the ball rolled around. Liza learned that if she rolled it down the stairs the treats would usually fall out which is why it looks this way. I have tried super glue etc. but it never stays together! It is sadly beaten & broken but try as I may I have never been able to find another one like it. I have spent hours looking & have bought many similar but nothing will ever take it's place. She knows where it is almost all the time - usually keeps it in her bed - but when it's missing she just paces the house until someone helps her find it. She used to be able to hold it in her mouth like this by just hooking it onto her eye tooth Now she just puts her bottom jaw into the opening like this There is a rit...
