2013 Stockade-athon 15K

Today was the race & the weather was not that great.  I am now working Sundays all day so I went to work early & then had someone come in to cover me so I could go to the race.
We met Mark & Dani in the park about a half hour before the race started.....it was crazy how many people were there!
LiLi was not happy about wearing her hat but was so excited when she found out I had hand warmers.  I had one for each of us but it wasn't long before she had both of them.  They ended up in her boots as she decided her feet were cold.  We missed the start of the race  because she had to go to the bathroom.  Then we ended up standing in the wrong spot (thanks to a race official who didn't know which way they were running) so this was as close as we got to seeing them after they left the park.
It was so cold & damp so we took LiLi inside the pavilion where they had a huge fireplace.  We hung out there for a while & had hot chocolate.
We were able to catch Dani when she had just over a mile to run.
This is where she spotted LiLi with sign...we also had a cow bell to ring.  We missed Mark due to another bathroom break!
This is about 100 yards short of the finish line
Here comes Mark finishing strong.
These are the unofficial results......Mark shaved 15 minutes off of last year's time!

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Happy "13th" Birthday Liza

Today is Liza's 13th birthday(that is 91 in people years). We are just amazed that she not only is still with us, after being told 18 months ago she wouldn't live 6 months but that weather permitting she still walks 2 miles every morning & another 2 in the afternoon! Check out the slide show.......her friend Lucy came over tonight & they each had a donut w/frosting & sprinkles along with ice cream. It was just too funny as neither one of them can see worth a damn but they knew they were getting something good! Lucy had hers gone in 2 bites but Liza went for the ice cream first & then took her time licking off the frosting!

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...
