You have how many?????

I decided about a year ago I wanted a scarf rack & kinda figured out how I would make it but it kept getting pushed to the bottom of my to-do list.

I decided this winter it was going to be done.  One day while I was out with Popster we stopped at Lowes & I got a 4 x 4 cedar post & that round "dohicky thingy" for the top.  It sat in the garage for a few weeks & I finally decided to get started.  I wanted to borrow a sander from Scott but when he found why he suggested that I send the post over to his house with Popster.....remember he's the one with that beautiful big barn that has a very impressive wood working shop.  Later that day I get a text message from Scott  "Do you have a picture of what you are trying to make?"  My message back was "Yes I do but it's in my head"  Then my phone phone rang!

I had known that just the round "dohicky thingy" wasn't right for the top which is why he was calling.  I knew he would come up with what it needed so told him to do his thing!

Look at what he created.....it was just perfect & was the way I pictured it.

A couple coats of paint, hooks & some glue & I now have my scarf rack
There's room for 7 scarves on each side & I couldn't fit them all on it.....I guess I need to start attending SA meetings!

  1. Wow. It is gorgeous.

You have a lot of scarves...like a lot of scarves. Do you have an extra neck or two?

But what about Popster? If he had one of those for his hats I bet he wouldn't lose them.

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Happy "13th" Birthday Liza

Today is Liza's 13th birthday(that is 91 in people years). We are just amazed that she not only is still with us, after being told 18 months ago she wouldn't live 6 months but that weather permitting she still walks 2 miles every morning & another 2 in the afternoon! Check out the slide show.......her friend Lucy came over tonight & they each had a donut w/frosting & sprinkles along with ice cream. It was just too funny as neither one of them can see worth a damn but they knew they were getting something good! Lucy had hers gone in 2 bites but Liza went for the ice cream first & then took her time licking off the frosting!

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...
