What is wrong with people???

We had the most miserable night for golf today.  It was extremely overcast when we started & they were predicting thunderstorms.  It started raining by the 3rd hole, stopped for a while but the last 3 holes it totally down poured!  I have never been so drenched as I hadn't evened bothered using an umbrella,  my shoes were full of water & I was just dripping water.

I got right in my car without even taking off my golf shoes.  At the first intersection there were 2 cars in my lane & 3 cars in the left lane.  When I got to the stop sign I noticed a car pulled over on the road I was turning onto & a young girl was standing behind it on her cell phone but I could see she was crying.  I pulled & asked her if she needed help at which she totally lost it.  I jumped out of my car & eventually she told me someone pulled out of that intersection right in front of her.  She couldn't avoid hitting the car but the person driving didn't stop,  just turned around & went back the way he was coming from.  The front end of her car was smashed in so the other car must have also been damaged.  We called the state troopers & she had already called her father so I told her not to worry I would stay with her until her dad got there.  I pulled my golf umbrella out to keep us dry (not that I needed it) & eventually the trooper came.  As she was telling him what happened another car pulled up & in it was the driver of the other car....he looked like an older man....& he had apparently gone home & had someone drive him back again.......why?????  She was only 17 & it was the first accident she had ever been in.

What would possess someone to drive away & not worry about the other driver????

What was wrong with all the other people  that drove by & didn't stop to help her???

Things like this make me so angry!!!

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Happy "13th" Birthday Liza

Today is Liza's 13th birthday(that is 91 in people years). We are just amazed that she not only is still with us, after being told 18 months ago she wouldn't live 6 months but that weather permitting she still walks 2 miles every morning & another 2 in the afternoon! Check out the slide show.......her friend Lucy came over tonight & they each had a donut w/frosting & sprinkles along with ice cream. It was just too funny as neither one of them can see worth a damn but they knew they were getting something good! Lucy had hers gone in 2 bites but Liza went for the ice cream first & then took her time licking off the frosting!

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...
