46 years ago...............................

Today is our anniversary & I  have decided this post will be my version about how we met.......Popster's version would more than likely not be the same but that's how we roll!

It was new year's eve 1963....yikes!.......I was a telephone operator in a little town called Huntingdon in England.  It was about 3 miles from Alconbury, an amercan air force base.  All calls went thru our switchboard including ones from the base so consequently we got to know all the GIs. we would meet them at the Nickel Coin.........pictured here
during our coffee..... or should I say tea?....breaks & lunch hours.  Whenever some newbies were transfered in they would be brought to town to meet the local girls.

It was not "love at first sight"......I thought he was kinda nerdy & he thought I was a "stuck-up english broad"!  It was a few weeks later when he asked me to go to the movies that I realized he wasn't so "nerdy", so I guess we'll call it "love at second sight!  He proposed to me on my 18th birthday & then in a very romantic way, 3 weeks later gave me a ring.  We were sitting on a street bench in town and it was a total surprise.
Popster's version:  I got him drunk & proposed  as I was one of those "english broads" who would do anything to get to the USA.  Yes I know.......I wanted in the worst way to go live in Schenectady...doesn't everyone???????

It was definitely a "whirlwind courtship" as we were married in November, less than a year after we met.  We were both 18 & so young but I guess at the time it didn't matter. We had a very small wedding with friends & family & two years later came here to live.

I f I had it to do over would I still get married so young?  I would!

Today we have a riddle???

What do you get when you cross a pile of scraps, a sewing machine, a woman possessed, & a husband on a week long golf trip?  The following.........  This is a tablecloth for my kitchen table....forgot to take the finished pic  Cover for my sewing machine...very proud of this as I quilted the whole thing.  This is the back....got tired of doing squares!  Matching cover for my serger.  I meant to post these a while ago & must have forgot.  I have done a couple other projects since then which I will get around to posting soon.  Had computer problems so I have some catching up to do Love

C of O ....Sun Room...Day Twenty Three-Twenty Five

This came in the mail today which made me realize I never posted the last couple days updates.  They really all rolled into one as Jim ended up leaving at noon on Weds...it started to snow & didn't work at all on Thurs.  Friday he finished things up by lunch time but had to spend the afternoon emptying my garage of all his tools.  We had our inspection on Monday which wasn't a problem.  It has been so sunny this week so far so it is so nice to sit in there & enjoy the view!  Yes Molly hangs out in her a lot.....I have nose prints to prove she looks out of all the windows!

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...
