This was definitely not one of my better moves!!!!

Popster was playing in a golf outing that was out of town & would be gone all day so I asked him to see if he could get a ride & leave his SUV home for me to use.  Great idea at the time but one that proved to be very challenging!

I was going to Mark & Dani's at 4:00 so we could go out to eat.  Around 3:00 I decided to take Molly over to Jenkins to run off some energy.  I had bought her a new toy....a boomerang.....& she, of course, was being her usual "I'm not sharing my new toy" self & wouldn't give it back for me to throw again.  I would have to go over to where she was & bribe her with treats to get it back.  We did two laps around the field & when I got back to the gate I no longer had any car keys in my hand!!!!!

"Why didn't I put them in my pocket" you might ask!

Don't

I always put the key ring over my pinkie.  "Did I" you might ask!

Don't

"Was I carrying my cell phone"  you might ask!

Don't..............it was locked in the car!

Was I wearing sneakers??

Of course not I had thrown on my garden clogs because I figured the grass would be wet!

Now picture the grass hasn't been cut for several weeks so except for the track around the perimeter where everyone walks it is extremely long.  I started walking in a zig zag pattern back around the way I had gone all the time trying to figure what to do.  There wasn't a soul around (of course)!  I was thinking I could walk up to Scott's house...about a mile & a half then another 1/4 mile down his driveway but what if no one was home.  I could walk back home only about 3 miles but in those stupid garden clogs!  I had another key at home but I still needed to find Popster's keys.........it has every key he owns on it.  After about 45 mins I found them.

Lesson learned ....

  1. Put the d**n keys in your pocket
  2. Carry your cell phone

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Happy "13th" Birthday Liza

Today is Liza's 13th birthday(that is 91 in people years). We are just amazed that she not only is still with us, after being told 18 months ago she wouldn't live 6 months but that weather permitting she still walks 2 miles every morning & another 2 in the afternoon! Check out the slide show.......her friend Lucy came over tonight & they each had a donut w/frosting & sprinkles along with ice cream. It was just too funny as neither one of them can see worth a damn but they knew they were getting something good! Lucy had hers gone in 2 bites but Liza went for the ice cream first & then took her time licking off the frosting!

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...
