This is a red bellied woodpecker that comes to my feeder usually 3-4 times a day. I have been trying for two years & finally got a picture of him. The slightest nose sends him away in a flash!
These are pileated woodpeckers & seldom come this close to the house & I have only once before seen them on the feeder.
They almost always are in pairs but stay back in the woods.
This is blurry as he was flying away but it gives you an idea of how big they are.
