Valentine's Day lunch at Hartford Mill

The weather was pretty mild this morning so we decided to take the dogs for a walk around the village. In the winter everywhere is wet & usually muddy so this way we would stay halfway clean.

This was taken at the top of Meadow Lane. As you can see by the sign the field down near the end is now a Nature Preserve so there is a lot of foot traffic....people walking their dogs, but also a lot of cars drive down as there is a small parking area.

This used to be the village shop where we bought our *sweets.

This is where Terry & Lucy lived before they moved to Devon Kent.

This used to be the primary school & is where I went until I was 11 years old. It is now the Village Hall.

The church where Popster & I were married....remember this

Look,...........snowdrops!

Historical marker for the village

Always loved this house!

This used to be the Vicarage at one time...now is a nursing home.

The first sight of the red kite....more on this in a later post

At lunch time we drove over to the Hartford Mill a beautiful restaurant on the river to meet Greg, Jenifer, Ruth, Jason & the kiddies for a Valentine' day lunch.
Evie......isn't she the perfect poster child for the "peaches & cream" english complexion?

The guys all studying the menu!

The three "angels"

The food was so good...I had a poached salmon salad & Popster enjoyed a Sunday roast dinner complete with yorkshire pudding.

These are Canadian geese.....a long way from home!

We all went back to Nigel & Susan's & Daniel came with a duffel bag full of his John Deere tractors & implements so he could show them off to Barry.

I forgot to post these yesterday but Susan even remembered it was Chinese New Year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BIG BROTHER

Happy birthday to my big brother Terry...........have a wonderful day!

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while &

Yea for Don the repair guy!

My new BFF is Don the repair guy who came today to fix the dishwasher. Amazingly, after he took the door apart it would close - I really did not believe the handle was broken but was defective! It had never felt right........always kinda loose. Anyway he decided that as long as we had a new handle he would install it & even gave me the old one as a back-up. Works much better now. Funny story - while he was here he got a phone call from the office telling him one of his earlier repairs of the day had called saying their dishwasher would not start at all. He called the lady back & suggested different things for her to try but nothing worked. He said he would stop back after his next call to see what it could be. As he hung up I said "Sounds to me like she has the "child lock control" on!". Sure enough after another phone call that turned out to be the problem! Maybe I need a change of careers!!!!!
