Saturday Ritual followed by family visits

Got up on Sat morning to discover I hadn't pack either one of my hair brushes! The only thing I had was a little tiny pocket book size! Susan needed to go to Tesco's (the english version of a W*lmart super center) to pick up some last minute things for our family get together.
This one is brand new & eco-friendly!

The *trolley/greeter guy posed for me

They did not carry hair brushes........they may now though, as they had so many requests for them today! (all three of us ask three different clerks for them)

When we got back Susan's mother & father were there with lunch & the Sat newspaper which has the "super duper" weekly crossword. Nigel's son Barry & his girlfriend Zoe also came around(they live next door). Lunch is always sandwiches made with crispy hot french bread followed by jam donuts....to die for! The crossword gets passed around & everyone participates in solving it. Nigel & Susan have what we call the "reference library" at the top of the stairs & the rules are - anything can be looked up in a book, you can collaborate with each other but no "googling" answers before Mon AM. Usually Nigel will check with Susan's mother late Sun to see how she's doing but really wants to have his solved before then!

Later on in the afternoon Greg & Jennifer showed up, then their daughter Ruth with hubby Jason & their children James, Daniel & Evie. Greg's son Adam along with his girlfriend Michelle also came. Then a little while later Nigel's other son Kevin with his girlfriend Kayleigh joined the party.
This is Daniel - doesn't he have a "cheeky" face?

We had such a nice afternoon & evening playing with the kiddies & talking & catching up!

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...

Happy "13th" Birthday Liza

Today is Liza's 13th birthday(that is 91 in people years). We are just amazed that she not only is still with us, after being told 18 months ago she wouldn't live 6 months but that weather permitting she still walks 2 miles every morning & another 2 in the afternoon! Check out the slide show.......her friend Lucy came over tonight & they each had a donut w/frosting & sprinkles along with ice cream. It was just too funny as neither one of them can see worth a damn but they knew they were getting something good! Lucy had hers gone in 2 bites but Liza went for the ice cream first & then took her time licking off the frosting!
