Popster & I did our usual New Year's Eve at First Night in Saratoga................this was the 14th year & we always find something new to see as well as visit some of our favorites. This year "Hair of the Dog" won out over "The McKrells"...........bothIrish bluegrass & both excellent bands!
We got there too late for the opening ceremonies but instead looked for someplace to get something to eat. I was a very "cheap" date this year as I settled for a bowl of clam chowder from a street vendor & a bag of kettle corn.........the best I have ever had!!!!
This is a "moving" cafe that serves cupcakes & coffee!
All the buildings are decorated & it's great just to walk around town.............for a change the weather was quite pleasant with temps right around mid twenties.
This is "Hair of the Dog" & their venue was a church.........we had just got our kettle corn which I couldn't wait to open. There was a big sign - NO FOOD OR DRINK!!! I was very slick & just walked right in kinda hiding my bag but the Popster got caught & had his taken away by one of the volunteers! We were sneaking handfuls like a couple kids in school! He did get his bag back when we left.
At the end of the night we went to watch a big band that was playing in the City Center. That is the biggest venue & gets very crowded we got seats near the front so we could watch people dancing. We were both amazed at how many teenagers were dancing to some of the oldies by Frank Sinatra./Roy Orbison/Paul Anka. Also by the fact we knew all the words & were singing along!
This is at Congress Park taken right before midnight when the fireworks started.
It's not a very good shot but the building has a carousel in it.
My fireworks shots are not that good...it was snowing & my camera is a little too slow!
