Home but not among the living

I got "yelled" at by my daughter this morning for not having updated my blog............so here "in a nutshell" is the reason why! I did a totally "stupid" move on our way home from Newark on Thurs......tripped, fell on my face & without going into the "gory details" have 4 stitches in my nose & look like I went 7 or 8 rounds with Mike Tyson!!!! Enough said!

This is Sophia in her highchair on Saturday eating congee (homemade by Gramma Jo). She seems to be adjusting slowly to being home but her nights are still a little tough.......so are ours..... so we can understand. She is an amazing baby & seems to deal with what life throws at her very well. I still don't think we have seen the "real Li Li " yet but do get some glimpses.

China was totally awesome & I'm so glad I got experience the whole trip with them. Mark & Dani just took on the role of parents like they had been doing it forever! One of the best parts of the trip was experiencing "gotcha" day with all the families & then seeing each baby become familiar & comfortable with their new family. They were all so different & have their own unique personalities.

I kept a journal of the trip & after I go through & read it some more I will post some of the highlights.............right now the beginning of our journey seems like an eternity away!

  1. Yeah, you're blogging your trip!! Can't wait to read everything -- don't leave anything out (not just for me, but for Sophia LiLi, as well!)

So sorry about your nose. Gonna post a picture?! ;^)

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while ...

Today we have a riddle???

What do you get when you cross a pile of scraps, a sewing machine, a woman possessed, & a husband on a week long golf trip?  The following.........  This is a tablecloth for my kitchen table....forgot to take the finished pic  Cover for my sewing machine...very proud of this as I quilted the whole thing.  This is the back....got tired of doing squares!  Matching cover for my serger.  I meant to post these a while ago & must have forgot.  I have done a couple other projects since then which I will get around to posting soon.  Had computer problems so I have some catching up to do Love

Sewing, weaving & emptying the waterbed

Monday morning began bright & early as we needed to finish emptying our bedroom.  Mark was dropping LiLi off before 8:00am as she does not have school this week.  We needed to drain the waterbed before we could take it apart.  As usual we were having no luck getting the water to siphon out & even resorted to having LiLi (all 35lbs of her) sitting on it with us!!  It probably took over an hour & who knows how many tries before it worked.  Got the mattress out & discovered the decking was falling apart.....good thing we decided to do this project,,,,I was able to find a local place so we can just replace it & to be safe I also got a new safety liner & heater.  I don't want to be doing this again for a while!  While Popster worked on replacing the baseboard & window trim in those two rooms LiLi & I started working on this doll kit she had gotten for her birthday.  All the pieces needed to be sewn togeth...
