Life from where we are

Yesterday i decided to finish up the painting in the kitchen. The ceiling & wall coming into the kitchen from the stairs needed to be patched which meant I would have to redo the stripes. I had put the base coat on & now needed to put the frog tape on to do the stripes. Of course I didn't have enough tape so I needed to go to W*lmarts. I was in my workout clothes & hadn't showered but figured I would fit right in with the Saturday crowd. I put on a coat & scarf, pulled on a hat & off we went. Popster dropped me at the door & went to get his truck washed. I ran around, picking up some groceries as well & headed for the "speed" (not)checkout. I was behind this strange looking character who had on glasses with the thickest lenses I have ever seen. He was so hyper & could not stand still. I finally got my act together & here are the "before & after" pics of the kitchen.   I am going to let the pics speak for themselves!

When I was in L*wes last week I picked up some tulips...........look how beautiful they are now!  It's also like Spring outside as the temps are in the 50's again.  Makes me want to be out there but I am still trying to clean all the dust from my house, along with still putting things away.  It's getting there & soon being upside down will be a distant memory.

Today Jim & Davey were here to put in the final touches to our month long project......they put up the wall......difference is it painted the same color as the cabinets.  I like it....I think the room flows better now!  They were done by lunch, including packing up all their tools into that big truck........let me tell you they have a lot of tools!  They had lunch with us before they left.  I will really miss having them around...it was like having my own "reality tv" show! I was very busy the rest of the afternoon & Jessie came over after school & helped clean & put the furniture back.  It will probably take me the rest of the week to get the whole clean & dust free.  I have some painting to do....the wall coming down the stairs had to be spackled so I have to redo my stripes!  We have come to the end of "extreme make-over" for now but stay tuned as there is another major remodel planned for later this year! Yesterday it got to around 50 degs....this morning it is 16 degs with a "real feel" of -7 degs! The crazy Northeast!

We were thinking today could possibly be the end of this project but it didn't work out that way.  Jim started out the day by working on replacing the siding around the new door & window.  There wasn't enough siding so taking a trip to pick up more took a good part of his time.  It was the perfect day to do it as we reached 50 degs today! They also replaced the back to to the garage as the other one suffered some damage from last year when we were locked out after our nightmare trip home  from England. We did get out new table....the other one was too big....& put one piece of furniture back. They still have to rebuild the wall & shelves that separate the two rooms. The wood is all painted & ready to go so tomorrow should be it. I did make Popster a nice Valentine's dinner which we ate at out new table....I have to say cooking in my new kitchen is so much better as it's so roomy & I have lots of counter space. We stopped over at Mark & Dani's today to give them their anniversary gift. LiLi was so proud of her "halo" that Dani made in her hair. She has very definite ideas on how her hair should be & Dani has to do her best to figure it out! This was last night at our house...she didn't want to look up from doing her puzzle!

Usually things do not go according to plan with us & seeing today depended on two going according to plan I was sure one or both wouldn't pan out.  The skin for the outside of the cabinet was supposed to be delivered to our kitchen store yesterday & the other piece of crown molding was supposed to be delivered to our house by Fed Ex some time today.  Popster & I left in Jim's truck to pick up the skin & by the time we got home Fed Ex had delivered the other package. It's looking really good in here but there are still some things to be finished on Monday.  They have to rebuild the wall & shelves that separate the eating area from the living room & do the outside.  We are definitely on the home stretch!
