Barely Surviving!

We only have one more day of February!  We can't wait to say goodbye to the second coldest one on record!  Average temps 12.3 degrees!  We now think that 18-20 degrees is a heat wave!  I'm talking Fahrenheit!  I'm looking at this & trying to remember warmer days from long ago  With the blue sky I can almost do it! Love

Snow shoeing????

Weds afternoon was a little warmer....maybe around 20 degs so we went to the park  This pic cracks me up.....LiLi wanted to try out her snow shoes  Of course she had to test out the deep snow  The reason she is so far ahead?  Took off the snow shoes!  She decided they were a lot of work & preferred to just run!  This was typically our order of walking...Molly way in front followed by Popster........  .....then me followed by "Help Nana I'm stuck in the snow!"  (She was on her knees)  Hard to believe that we thought 20 degs was a heat wave! Love

The many faces of LiLi

I haven't done one of these for a while Love

Piano, Reading & Sewing. Gung Hay Fat Choi!

LiLi was barely in the door yesterday when she raced downstairs to play the piano. She had learned  Twinkle, Twinkle on a piano app & wanted to show us.  I found some simple songs for her & Popster helped her with them She played for between 2-3 hours with only a break for breakfast....she is obsessed! Then she "retired" to my room for her other obsession....reading She sets the time on her phone & reads for an hour.  There is a challenge at her school to read for 90 mins a week.  They have combined grades to form teams & are sailing to South America using the minutes to translate to miles.  She has been reading for close to 300 mins a week & her goal this week is 60 mins a day!  She wants to win so, of course, the "over-achiever" in her thinks she should do a " little extra "! After lunch we went snow shoeing....I'll share those pics later.  Then we spent some time in my sewing room designing a skirt from a "je...

Balmy weather

When I got up Monday morning it was -9 with a wind chill of MINUS 35 degs.  Just unimaginable that it could keep getting colder!  I went to the gym & didn't stick my head out for the rest of the day! Yesterday wasn't windy & the temperature after lunch was around 15-18 degs so we took Molly to Kinn's road.  She hadn't been out for any length of time since friday so she was so happy!  She just "barrels" into the deep snow after who knows what!  I still cannot believe we actually enjoyed our walk at those temps! Love

Sewing, Cooking, Piano Playing

This week is winter break so there is no school.  The weather is frigid so Monday we spent the day inside.  LiLi wanted me to make her a pillow case to have for a sleep-over.....it so happened I had seen one on a quilting book so I let her choose the fabric & I just did the sewing.  This is the back of it.  This is the front which after this photo shoot we put her name & the year on it.  After lunch we made soup & she was in charge of the carrots.....she has been taking a cooking class on saturdays & is learning how to chop vegetables  The day also included a piano lesson  Of course true to her nature she was soon obsessed with playing Love

Sophia LiLi's Birthday

Mark & Dani had the family over Sunday for LiLi's birthday.......it was Feb 6th but they were on a disney cruise(the same one they tried take for her birthday last year that didn't let her on) so we celebrated it late. She reads every card Had to write down on her list after opening a present....who it was from etc for her thankyou notes. Another card Who knew she would like this so much....I made her a microwave pot holder for her bowl of soup or hot cereal.  It was made out of scraps from the quilted bag I made her. Back to the list Everyone wanted a pair of these shoes! Love that face  Happy 8th birthday LiLi...may all your wishes come true! Love
