Cr*ig's List, Popster's Mental State & The Tile Store

While JoAnne was home during the holiday's we were talking about the big "kitchen redo" & I was showing her the plans.  She started asking me what we doing with the things like the sink, which she knew was only a couple years old.  I said I was replacing it because I wanted a double sink.  Being my daughter( the psychiatrist who has to psychoanalyze everyone) asked Popster how he felt about me "junking" a perfectly good sink.  He was on his way out the door & after thinking for a minute he said "It really disturbs me, in fact I'm deeply disturbed by it, but I'm giving up because that's what you do!"  He then shut the door & left!

Which leads me the Cr*ig's list.  I told Popster not to worry, that I was putting everything for sale on Cr*ig's list.  I think his answer was something like "Yeah"  I spent early Weds afternoon putting up all my ads & within 30 mins I had all kinds of e-mails.  One of the things I had posted was the bay window & by 4:30 I had four people wanting to buy it.  I let them know the first one that came over with a deposit owned it.  When Popster walked in the door at 5:00PM I had not only sold the window but the back door along with it. I'm positive now that I didn't ask enough for it but I had to prove my point!

Yesterday Jim stopped by to measure something for the new electrical service....yes this job gets very involved....he asked me if I had picked out the floor tile yet.  Nada!  He then said he would go with us if we wanted & as they were open late last night we took him up on his offer.  (See why I love this guy!)

It really didn't take long to pick out the floor but then we started looking for tile for the back splash.  He suggested that this should be the "wow" factor in the room so we were trying to find something that we could add a design to.  There was another couple wandering around & next thing the husband asked Jim a question!  I looked at him & said "Excuse me, but he belongs to me!  If you ask him questions you have to pay a consulting fee!"  WHOOPS! Thankfully he had a sense of humor.

We ended up finding some natural limestone tile that are so cool & different & of course very expensive.  Popster came walking over as we were trying different layouts & said he really liked it!  I asked him how he felt about me coming in under budget for the floor because this would take us way, way over budget for the back splash!  He said if I liked it he was good with it.  I then said: "Who are you & what have you done with my husband?"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BIG BROTHER

Happy birthday to my big brother Terry...........have a wonderful day!

46 years ago...............................

Today is our anniversary & I  have decided this post will be my version about how we met.......Popster's version would more than likely not be the same but that's how we roll! It was new year's eve 1963....yikes!.......I was a telephone operator in a little town called Huntingdon in England.  It was about 3 miles from Alconbury, an amercan air force base.  All calls went thru our switchboard including ones from the base so consequently we got to know all the GIs.  we would meet them at the Nickel Coin.........pictured here during our coffee..... or should I say tea?....breaks & lunch hours.  Whenever some newbies were transfered in they would be brought to town to meet the local girls. It was not "love at first sight"......I thought he was kinda nerdy & he thought I was a "stuck-up english broad"!  It was a few weeks later when he asked me to go to the movies that I realized he wasn't so "nerdy", so I guess we'll call

Designer "doggy uggs"

Poor Molly has been having a hard time already this winter with the snow. She has good size pads on her feet which are "webbed" like a lab's foot.  When she goes in the snow it builds up in between her pads & forms a hard piece of almost ice-like snow.  Then she holds her foot up for someone to pull it out.  I decided to make her her own boots. Jessica had spent the night here as we went to First night for new years....more on that later.....so we "googled" how to make dog boots & then modified it to work for Molly.  Keep in mind these were boots you could make in 10 minutes.  It took approx 10 mins to measure Molly's feet.  Two hours later here's the results I did decide to make her 2 for each foot figuring she would be like any typical kid & lose a couple here & there. We had to go to W*lmart in the middle of the project to get velcro to make the fasteners.  We then made her wear them around the house for a while &
